Chamber chief pans house sale tax proposal

EDMONTON - Greg Christenson, chairman of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, has added his voice to those opposing a property transfer tax.
"There's no connection to service delivery," he says of the proposed tax. "It's just a tax grab."
The tax has been recommended to the Alberta government by the Minister's Council on Municipal Sustainability.
It is supported by Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel as a means to help the city meet rising costs without excessively raising property taxes.
