You've likely heard the term 'MLS®', but do you know what it is, or how important it is in marketing your home? The MLS® (Multiple Listing Service®) is a cooperative marketing network created by REALTORS to help the public buy and sell homes. Don't confuse MLS® with www.mls.ca. We use both of these tools to market your home, but their purposes are very different. MLS® provides REALTORS with detailed information, so they can help their clients find a home. The www.mls.ca website, on the other hand, advertises your home to the world over the internet. These days, the MLS® is completely computer-based, but it started out as a paper list of information and photos.
The local MLS® system is operated by the Edmonton Real Estate Board (EREB). It makes the real estate industry quite unique, because it encourages cooperation among real estate agents. For example, if you've ever shopped for a car, you know that the salesperson's goal is to sell you a car from their car lot. They'd never give you all the information about the cars available on the competition's lots. In the real estate industry, however, all REALTORS have access to all properties listed on MLS®, regardless of the company they work for. So, when we list your home on MLS®, it gets maximum exposure to all other REALTORS.
And, because we've taken the extra education necessary to input our listings ourselves, your home will be available to thousands of REALTORS the same day you list your home with us.
